May I tell you a story?
I was scrolling through Facebook one day last August. Just looking. Not sure why. But as I read, a paragraph caught my eye. She Writes for Him was looking for writers to submit articles for their Stories of Living Hope compilation book.
The idea intrigued me.
The timing seemed impeccable. God had recently called me back into writing. A few weeks before I started Denise’s Healing Journey. I started attending writer’s conferences and joining writer’s groups. Perhaps this was another step on the path God had re-directed me to. I clicked the email for more information.
Yes, they were looking for writers. Yes, they wanted stories of inspiration and encouragement. And, if selected, my writing would be in a compilation book due out in a few months. But my selection had to be in by Monday to be considered.
It was Saturday.
“Okay, Lord? What do I do? Show me what to do?” I asked with a pit in my stomach. Part of me was hoping God would say no. Instead, He gave me the idea to write about how I grew up with a mom struggling with mental health issues and how that affected my identity. After viewing church service on Sunday, I sat down at my computer and wrote “My Mother’s Daughter,” God dropped the article into my spirit and onto the page. I emailed it that day.
Two weeks later, my article was accepted by Redemption Press, which publishes the She Writes for Him series. I have been so blessed by the people I have met through the experience. She Writes for Him encouraged me to move forward as God’s messenger inspired by Him to bring His healing and love for others. I have been able to share my story with other She Writes for Him writers and their audiences. My videocast with Teresa is an example of this.
She Writes for Him: Stories of Living Hope is a labor of love for all who were a part of it.
